During spring, the forest turns into a maternity ward. Respect the good habits!
Spring is the season when birds breed and fawn are born. Animals need plenty of rest and space. Walkers, cyclists or dogs can startle newborn animals, which is why - even more than usual - it is hugely important to respect the good habits of the forest.
And of course, don't forget the bright spring blooms! Wood anemones, hyacinths, wild garlic, ... . They all come back to life in spring. To enjoy these beautiful spring flowers for as long as possible, it is important to stay on the paths and avoid picking flowers and plants.
The Sonian Forest: precious Natura 2000 site. Beautiful but vulnerable.
Protected habitats and exceptional species make the Sonian Forest a biodiversity paradise. Our forest is home to breeding birds, small mammals, amphibians, reptiles and also roe deer. It is home to important animal and plant species. In short, the Sonian Forest is an incredibly rich but also very vulnerable Natura 2000 site.
The Natura 2000 status is of great importance for the Sonian Forest. As a result, special protection measures apply to the entire forest. The forest managers from the three regions apply these measures in their forest management and thus ensure that target species and habitats are preserved.
Together for the Sonian Forest! Will you join us?
