On Sunday, October 15, 2023, our forest will be in the spotlight during the Day of the Sonian Forest.
In particular, we would like to invite you to enjoy the interregional bike & walk tour that will take you to the strict forest reserves of the Sonian Forest that are part of the UNESCO series 'Ancient and primeval beech forests in the Carpathians and other parts of Europe'.
This is the perfect moment to highlight the exceptional nature of the Sonian Forest and its protection thanks to UNESCO, as well as Natura 2000.
This tour will be guided by the forest managers of the Sonian Forest. The Sonian Forest Foundation, which is hosting the UNESCO Secretary, and the UN Environment Programme, will draw your attention to topical issues.
Apart from the beautiful cycling route, we see this activity as a way to strengthen contacts and exchanges between stakeholders around this issue.
